Course Structure and Content

The Level 4 Diploma in Spectator Safety Management comprises eight mandatory units and three optional units, covering a total of 90 credits. The mandatory units include:

• Plan for the Safety of People at Spectator Events
• Manage the Safety and Security of People at Spectator Events
• Develop, Implement, and Review Policies and Procedures for Safety and Security at Spectator Events
• Provide Information for Action and Decision Making at Events
• Manage Resources for Safety and Security at Events
• Manage Risks in Crowded Places
• Manage the Initial Response to Significant or Major Incidents and Plan for Resilience
• Work with Others to Improve Customer Service

In addition to the mandatory units, you will select three optional units with the guidance of your course tutor to tailor the qualification to your career goals.

Assessment and Certification

To achieve the Level 4 Diploma in Spectator Safety Management, candidates must complete three elements:

1. An e-portfolio of underpinning knowledge and evidence of professional practice, such as policy documents and contingency plans.
2. Assessment of practice undertaken by one of our assessors when candidates are acting in a safety management role.
3. Completion of the Action Counters Terrorism (ACT) Strategic course, delivered by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NACTSO). We will assist in facilitating and setting this up.

Pre-Requisite Course Requirements

This programme is suitable for learners aged 18 and over. You must be working in or able to obtain a work placement within a safety management capacity to fulfil the criteria of this qualification. It is expected that candidates will have a good level of understanding of some of the themes that run throughout the qualification.
